- Architect : An architect is a person involved in the art of planning, designing and overseeing the construction of buildings, or more generally, the designer of a scheme or plan.
- ASTM : American Society for Testing and Materials
- ATCT : Acronym that stands for Air Traffic Control Towers. ATCT's are responsible for the safe and efficient expedition of aircraft through the National Airspace System.
- Ballast : Electrical component, which allows dim ability of task lighting; installed in a rectangular aluminum ballast box screwed to the frame.
- Bay : The basic console unit consisting of steel frame covered with architectural panels.
- Bezel : Window-like panel containing anti-glare glass, mounted in front of monitor.
- CAD : Computer-aided design; the use of a computer in industrial design applications such as architecture, engineering, and manufacturing.
- CNC : Computer Numeric Controlled; a technology, which allows for precision, automated cutting of material. The Tresco CNC cutting machine is made by Morbidelli and we call it the Morb. A Morb program, a digital file created for many types of panels, controls the Morb. To Morb a panel is to place it on the CNC cutting machine and run a Morb program to cut or shape it. Most often the Morb is used to pre-drill hardware mounting holes with consistent accuracy.
- Contract : An agreement between Tresco and a client, documented with a client Purchase Order or other suitable document and a Tresco sales Proposal, which specifies a price to be paid to Tresco and the product and/or services which Tresco will provide to the client; the contract also includes (usually by reference) product specifications or some other description of the client’s needs.
- Consultant : A party engaged to give professional advice or services for a fee, but not as an employee of the party that engages him or her.
- Console : Technical furniture specifically designed for the ergonomic, functionality and durability requirements within a 24/7 operation control room environment.
- Control Room : A room that controls operations, monitors data or manages communications. Control rooms vary in range, type and size and are customized to fit the needs of the operation.
- Counterop : The Countertop, synonymous with Work surface, is the part of a console, which rests horizontally on structural steel cantilevers and provides a table-like working surface for a control room operator while seated at the console.
- Design Input : All correspondence, notes and documents which define the client’s needs, requirements, and specific product requests and specifications are known collectively as Data Input.
- Edge/Front Edge : Almost all panels have a piece of material attached to their edges. The material glued to the edge is also referred to as the edge. In the case of work surfaces or countertops, the front edge is a special rubber extrusion.
- EIA : Electronic Industries Alliance.
- Engineer : An engineer is someone who practices the engineering profession; a professional practitioner of engineering; someone who uses scientific knowledge to solve practical problems and produce goods for society.
- EPCM : Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Management.
- Electrostatic Power coating : Highly durable finish applied to the steel frame members of the Tresco console to ensure that the metal won't corrode.
- Ergonomics : The applied science of equipment design intended to maximize productivity by reducing operator fatigue and discomfort.
- Equipment Module : This terms is used interchangeably with "console bay".
- Extrude : Squeeze, force out. Shape molten metal, aluminum or plastic by squeezing through suitable nozzle or die.
- Extrusion : A piece of metal or aluminum that has been given shape by being squeezed through a suitable nozzle or die.
- FAA : Federal Aviation Administration.
- Frame : This word is used in two ways. A single vertical welded or riveted assembly of structural steel that forms part of the supporting substructure of a console. When two or more frames are joined with horizontal stringers, the resulting structural skeleton is also called a frame.
- Gable : A vertical support panel or a panel forming the side of a console or piece of furniture.
- IEEE : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
- Job Box : Large, wheeled box with storage compartments which contains hardware and various components to be used for a specific project. The job box is labeled with the name and work order number of the project.
- LAN : Local Area Network.
- MCAD : Mechanical Computer-Aided Design.
- Metal : Steel frame components, equipment trays and any other specially- ordered steel components besides hardware that are used in building a console.

- Morb : Please refer to CNC above.
- NEMA : National Electrical Manufacturers Association.
- NFPA : National Fire Protection Agency.
- NOC : Network Operations Center. A location from which the operation of a network or internet is monitored. Additionally, this centre usually serves as a clearinghouse for connectivity problems and efforts to resolve those problems.
- Proposal : A document that offers for sale a console or other Tresco product to be built and delivered at a later date, and that defines a price, specifies delivery/installation terms, lists principal construction details and specifies the number and type of accessories included in the price.
- RFQ : Request for Qualifications. The response describes Tresco and our products in sufficient loving detail that we are allowed to submit a formal bid.
- RFP : Request For Proposals. Usually a long and detailed document, every word of which must be read. It generally specifies the format of the required response, which will be used to award the contract.
- RFQ : Request for Qualifications.
